Haitian Flag Day Parade on May 11, 2008 in Irvington NJ
FAMICARE (FC) AND THE NEW JERSEY HAITIAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION (NJHSA) ANNOUNCES THE ANNUAL HAITIAN FLAG DAY PARADE ENTITLED, “KENBE PA LAGE.”
This parade will be held on May 11th 2008 in Irvington, New Jersey. The title of the 2008 Haitian Flag Day Parade is “Kenbe Pa Lage” The Mission of this parade is to engage the Haitian Community in a parade that will demonstrate Haitian culture and pride. There will be over 1000 members of the Haitian Community which include politicians, students, professionals, and religious leaders participating in the parade.
FamiCare and NJHSA of Irvington will sponsor the parade. FamiCare is a social work organization whose main goal is to preserve family living in New Jersey with a commitment for excellence and mutual respect. The New Jersey Haitian Student Association, (NJHSA), is a non-profit organization, operated under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, which serves as an umbrella organization to all the Haitian student groups, and affiliated clubs, in New Jersey’s community colleges, universities, and all other institutions of higher learning.
Since 1990, there have been annual Haitian Flag Day Parades in New Jersey organized by the community to celebrate the Haitian Heritage. Last year, the New Jersey Haitian Student Association was chosen by the Haitian community to host this successful parade annually. The New Jersey Haitian Student Association Parade Committee and FamiCare are confident that the Haitian Community and our neighboring ethnic communities will leave enriched, educated and will feel a sense of togetherness at the conclusion of this parade.
