ABOU THE SONGI MISS U HAITI(Haiti Tu Me Manques) was composed back on 2001 by jonathan Laurince and was created to express the melancholy of the artist after leaving his native country Haiti to reside in the United States of America. It was a very sad moment for the young composer. The first version that he wrote was for his former Brass Quintet Ensemble called “Cuivres & Or” translated into English by Brass & Gold. He never got the chance to perform the tune with the band but he was informed that wherever in Haiti the song is being performed, the band (C&O) receives a standing ovation in his honor. After the earthquake that devastated Haiti on January 12, 2010, that same sadness and melancholy came back into his heart. That is when he released on February the single entitled I Know Haiti Will Rise Again in order to uplift and reinforce the hope of the nation of Haiti all around the world. “Jonathan’s voice has never been so pure and soulful in any of his prior records” declared the host of the show Slice Of Life from Black Enterprise TV. And in June 2010 he went back to the studio and record nine years later his second version of “I Miss U Haiti” translated into French by Haiti Tu Me Manques. A Smooth Jazz ballad with a Caribbean flavor, with him on the trumpet and a couple of friends such as his co-producer Rodlin Pierre on keys and Bemol Telfort on guitare. Mr. Laurince created this tune to remind everybody, mainly the people of Haiti of how beautiful the Island use to be, so much that it was once called “The Perl Of The Islands” and also how wonderful the country is going to be.
