FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Haitian-American actor James Jolly stars in The Custom Mary Media contact: Michael Abrams email: michaelabramspr@gmail.com Los Angeles, January 6th, 2012 Haitian-American actor James Jolly stars in the urban drama The Custom Mary along with Alicia Sixtos (Quinceanera, Shameless, The Avengers,) and Janina Gavankar (True Blood, L-Word, Stargate Atlantis). The film is scheduled to play at the 2012 San Diego International Black film festival in January after premiering at the 2011 HBO Latino Film Festival in New York city. The San Diego Black film festival is known as of one the largest Black film festivals in the United States and recognizes African Americans in movies and filmmaking. James Jolly was born in Chicago and the city was the start of his theatrical training ground after graduating from the University of IL at Urbana-Champaign. He soon moved to Los Angeles where he was cast in the dark satire, Slamdance festival winner, The Scenesters, followed by A Cloud of Hope, an experimental film about the independence movements in Africa, circa 1960, directed by Steve Fagin. Jolly also appeared in A Soldier's Play starring alongside Obba Babatunde' and directed by Graeme Stewart, which had a successful stage play run and earned an NAACP award. Synopsis: THE CUSTOM MARY is a fascinating combination of a classic, indie film love story and an exploration of faith and religious fanaticism, set amidst the gritty world of Lowrider culture of East Los Angeles.
